Joe started his career in financial services in 1987. The first sixteen years were spent at Chase de Vere, beginning as an adviser, moving on to become a regulated supervisor and subsequently holding a number of senior roles as a director before leaving in 2003. The next six years were spent in consultancy/short term roles with a number of well-known financial service companies, before deciding in 2009 to start Beckford James with two former colleagues.
As well as always remaining a practicing adviser, Joe has held both management and regulatory responsibilities throughout his career and enjoys the varied challenges that the different roles bring. Joe's primary specialisms are pension and trust work as well as heading up the Beckford James investment committee.
He is both a Chartered and Certified Financial Planner, a Fellow of the PFS, an Affiliate of STEP and a regulated Pension Transfer Specialist.
On a personal level he is a keen rugby fan, following Bath in the premiership as well as coaching a local junior team as a level 2 RFU coach and a registered Somerset Society rugby referee.
